Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program

Hospitals in many states are now required to screen newborns for hearing loss prior to discharge. Drawing on our experience, OHS has developed a comprehensive Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UHNS) Program called STAR System ® (Screening, Tracking And Reporting System). OHS currently offers this in-hospital “outsourced” program as an alternative to in-house UNHS programs that place a huge burden on existing hospital staff, resources and finances. OHS currently offers this service to hospitals in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Consulting Services

OHS offers consulting services for Maternity Units seeking to change their nursery designation, moving from either a Level I Basic Nursery to a Level II Intermediate Special Care Nursery, or expanding a Level II Nursery to a Level III Intensive Care Nursery or to a Regional Perinatal Center.
